How to Migrate Your Website From Wordpress to Concrete5 CMS

Jun 13, 2014

I can't count how many times we've taken a Wordpress, Drupal, or Joomla website and turned it into a Concrete5 website. For many users those before mentioned content management systems just doesn't meet the user's needs. Usually the problem is that for some users, the editing tools just aren't intuitive enough to use and the website owner wants to more easily be able to make edits and add products to their website in a simple but powerful way.

The first step to turning a Wordpress website to a Concrete5 website is to take the existing website template and turn it into a Concrete5 theme. We can help you with that. Usually that is a fairly inexpensive and straightforward process that isn't hard for us to do because we can use your existing site template to create the Concrete5 theme.

After the Concrete5 theme is built we will take that theme and install it into Concrete5. That is also quick and easy for us to do. You basically just put your theme files into the /themes folder in Concrete5 then go into the Themes section of the Concrete5 dashboard and activate and apply the theme by clicking two buttons to have all of the pages of the website get the theme applied.

The last step is to copy the content of your old website and paste it into Concrete5. This can take some time, depending on the size of your website but is also a simple process. Watch our great Concrete5 Tutorial videos to see how easy it is to add text and photos to your website.

The last step to moving from Wordpress to Concrete5 is to point the domain name at the new Concrete5 website. After that you will have all the great tools available in Concrete5 and will have a robust and easy to use platform to continue to build your website on.
